Elijah Taylor
Parts ways with Swans
MFree Agent
Suspension
November 29, 2020
The Swans parted ways with Taylor on Monday.
ANALYSIS
Taylor was shut down by the club in August after breaching the league's COVID-19 protocol, and he'll depart the club ahead of the 2021 season. It's unclear whether he'll find a spot with another club in 2021.
Shaun McKernan
Signs with Saints
FSt Kilda Saints
November 5, 2020
McKernan signed with the Saints on Friday.
ANALYSIS
McKernan appeared in nine games with the Bombers in 2020 and logged five goals with 72 disposals. He had his workload managed with Essendon, and he could potentially play a bigger role with his new club next season.
Jesse Hogan
Traded to Giants
DGreater Western Sydney Giants
November 1, 2020
Hogan was traded from the Dockers to the Giants on Monday.
ANALYSIS
Hogan's two seasons with the Dockers were marred by injuries, and he'll get a chance to start fresh with the Giants in 2021. Over the past two seasons, Hogan appeared in 19 games and kicked 18 goals.
Sam Menegola
Cats best in losing effort
FGeelong Cats
October 24, 2020
Menegola totaled 13 disposals (10 kicks, three handballs), five marks and two goals in Saturday's 81-50 Grand Final loss to Richmond.
ANALYSIS
Menegola capped off a terrific season despite what was a disappointing result for the Cats. He was the team's only multiple goal scorer on a night when majors were at a premium. He ends the season ranked first in uncontested possessions and fourth in total disposals. He played in 21 games and was basically a must-roster player from the outset.
Tom Hawkins
Disappointing in loss Saturday
FGeelong Cats
October 24, 2020
Hawkins amassed 10 disposals (three kicks, seven handballs), three tackles, three marks, two behinds and one goal in Saturday's 81-50 loss to the Tigers.
ANALYSIS
Hawkins had a disappointing end to what has been a spectacular season, managing just one goal in Saturday's 31 point loss. The slippery conditions certainly made things difficult for Hawkins with clean looks hard to come by. Many will view this as perhaps the last shot at a premiership for the Cats with a number of their players on the wrong side of 30. With that being said, Hawkins should remain a key piece in the forward line for at least another season with the Cats still a viable title contender.
Patrick Dangerfield
Falls short in Grand Final loss
MGeelong Cats
October 24, 2020
Dangerfield ended with 12 disposals (seven kicks, five handballs), three tackles, one mark, one goal and one behind in Saturday's 81-50 Grand Final loss to Richmond.
ANALYSIS
Dangerfield was unable to lift his side to victory in what was his first Grand Final appearance. The classy midfielder could simply not get his hands on the ball down the stretch as the Cats blew an early 22 point lead. Despite the loss, it has certainly been an impressive season for Dangerfield who finished inside the top-10 in multiple categories. He will be almost 31 years of age when next season kicks off and his premiership window is getting smaller by the year.
Gary Ablett
Career comes to an end in loss
FGeelong Cats
October 24, 2020
Ablett finished with 12 disposals (four kicks, eight handballs), one tackle and one mark in Saturday's 81-50 Grand Final loss to the Tigers.
ANALYSIS
The career of one of the best to ever play the game came to an end Saturday as the Cats fell short in the season finale. Ablett suffered what looked to be a dislocated shoulder early in the game but returned to close out the match. He was clearly bothered by the injury throughout the entire duration but battled on, demonstrating his greatness despite the loss. Although it was not the end he had been hoping for, the dual Brownlow medallist will go down as a true legend of the game and a credit to both himself and his family.
Dion Prestia
Scores two in GF win
MRichmond Tigers
October 24, 2020
Prestia scored two goals to go with 14 disposals (seven kicks, seven handballs) and made five tackles during Saturday's 81-50 Grand Final win over Geelong.
ANALYSIS
Prestia ended the season in style after playing in every match in October. He dealt with an ankle injury throughout the summer that kept him out from July through September and will feel great to contribute to a second straight premiership win for the Tigers. Prestia will be one to watch if he can stay healthy next year.
Jack Riewoldt
Finishes title with two goals
FRichmond Tigers
October 24, 2020
Riewoldt scored two goals and two behinds in addition to making three marks during Saturday's 81-50 Grand Final win over Geelong.
ANALYSIS
Riewoldt began the scoring in the second half then sealed the deal with the final points of the premiership victory. Though never one to top the fantasy scoring charts, Riewoldt remains one of the better forwards around and scored majors in all but three matches this season. He'll now celebrate a second consecutive win of the flag to finish off an excellent end to the season for the Tigers.
Dustin Martin
Scores four in win
FRichmond Tigers
October 24, 2020
Martin scored four goals and collected 21 disposals (16 kicks, five handballs) during Saturday's 81-50 Grand Final win over Geelong.
ANALYSIS
Martin was once again the standout performer during the biggest match of the season by dragging his club back into the match then widening the league with a goal from a tight angle in the final period. The captain dominated the finals with seven goals and 67 disposals from three matches to help the Tigers secure a second straight flag and three of the last four premiership titles. He'll now have the offseason to celebrate his increasing place in the history books.
Jayden Short
Logs 25 disposals in GF win
DRichmond Tigers
October 24, 2020
Short collected 25 disposals (18 kicks, seven handballs) and made six tackles during Saturday's 81-50 Grand Final win over Geelong.
ANALYSIS
Short saved his best performance of the season for the most important match with a massive all-around performance. Though not always the most consistent player, Short was still one of the most reliable defenders for fantasy during the Tigers run to a second consecutive flag.
Bachar Houli
Injures calf in Grand FInal
DRichmond Tigers
Calf
October 24, 2020
Houli injured his calf during Saturday's 81-50 win over Geelong in the Grand Final, according to Callum Twomey of the league's official website.
ANALYSIS
Houli dealt with injuries at various points throughout the season before some more consistent performances down the stretch. He'l now focus on getting healthy for next season after winning the premiership.
Nick Vlastuin
Taken off on stretcher in GF
DRichmond Tigers
Concussion
October 24, 2020
Vlastuin left the field on a stretcher after getting knocked out by a straw elbow during Saturday's Grand Final win over Geelong, according to Callum Twomey of the league's official website.
ANALYSIS
Vlastuin was unlucky to take the blow inadvertently from Patrick Dangerfield as his night was ended six minutes into the match. He'll need a few weeks to recover but he can do so happily after the Tigers secured a second consecutive flag.
Jack Steven
Unlikely to play in finale
MGeelong Cats
Hamstring
October 20, 2020
Steven (hamstring) isn't expected to take part in the Cats' finale versus the Tigers, Tom Morris of Fox Footy reports.
ANALYSIS
Steven has been sidelined for a while with the hamstring injury, which he suffered in a scratch match. So, even if he does gain clearance of the issue ahead of Saturday's grand finale, it seems likely he won't be included among the team's 22 for the contest.
Gary Ablett
Stars in win
FGeelong Cats
October 17, 2020
Ablett scored two goals and logged two behinds to go with 14 disposals (eight kicks, six handballs) during Saturday's 82-42 win over Brisbane.
ANALYSIS
Ablett has seldom done much all season but he ratcheted up his play to a higher level during a huge win over the Lions. He'll hope to play a big role in the first Grand Final since 2011 for the Cats.
Mitchell Duncan
Continues to fight hard in win
MGeelong Cats
October 17, 2020
Duncan recorded 22 disposals (13 kicks, nine handballs) and made five marks during Saturday's 82-42 win over Brisbane.
ANALYSIS
Duncan has been a star in the finals with some impressive all-around efforts on the back of two huge wins. He'll have his eyes on the prize during the first grand final for the Cats since 2011.
Tom Hawkins
Nearly spectacular in win
FGeelong Cats
October 17, 2020
Hawkins scored two goals and logged three behinds to go with five marks made and 12 disposals recorded (seven kicks, five handballs) from Saturday's 82-42 win over Brisbane.
ANALYSIS
Hawkins continues to pace the league in both goals and behinds as he drove his team to a place in the Grand Final. His performances in the month of October should make him one to watch as the pressure increases to the biggest match of the season.
Grant Birchall
Injures hamstring in loss
DBrisbane Lions
Hamstring
October 17, 2020
Birchall hurt his hamstring during Saturday's loss to Geelong.
ANALYSIS
Birchall will have plenty of time to recover after his team lost in the preliminary finals. Throughout the season, Birchall wasn't one to provide consistent beyond meager disposal stats.
Charlie Cameron
Scores two in loss
FBrisbane Lions
October 17, 2020
Cameron scored two goals and collected five disposals during Saturday's 82-42 loss to Geelong.
ANALYSIS
Cameron kept up his goalscoring record but was otherwise shut down while his club was eliminated from the finals. He finishes the season tied for third in scoring with 31 goals.
Lincoln McCarthy
Decent in loss
MBrisbane Lions
October 17, 2020
McCarthy logged 14 disposals (six kicks, eight handballs) and made eight tackles during Saturday's 82-42 loss to Geelong.
ANALYSIS
McCarthy was one of a few players to serve much value during a disappointing loss that resulted in elimination from the finals. McCarthy had a stretch where he scored a goal in 10-of-12 Rounds in the middle of the season, but was otherwise too inconsistent in possession. His season is now over.
Lachie Neale
Finishes season with two goals
MBrisbane Lions
October 17, 2020
Neale scored two goals in addition to collecting 24 disposals (10 kicks, 14 handballs), making five marks and completing eight clearances during Saturday's 82-42 loss to Brisbane.
ANALYSIS
Neale finishes his season with a strong showing more akin to his performances at the beginning of the summer. However, it wasn't enough to help his club advance during a bad loss to Geelong in the preliminary final.
Kane Lambert
Kicks two goals in win
MRichmond Tigers
October 17, 2020
Lambert scored two goals and logged one behind to go with 13 disposals (eight kicks, five handballs) and six tackles in Friday's 46-40 win over Port Adelaide.
ANALYSIS
Lambert played a key role with his goals during a tough contest to advance to the Grand Final. He'll need to work hard to be worth selection, as he's seldom productive enough with the footy to regularly put up big numbers.
Dustin Martin
Stars in prelim final win
FRichmond Tigers
October 17, 2020
Martin scored two goals and collected 21 disposals (12 kicks, nine handballs) during Friday's 46-40 win over Port Adelaide.
ANALYSIS
Martin lead the charge for a second straight match to help the Tigers topple the top team in the Premiership. With 46 disposals and three goals in the finals, Martin is a man on a mission. He'll take on Geelong in the Grand Final.
Toby Nankervis
Huge in win
RRichmond Tigers
October 17, 2020
Nankervis made 10 tackles and completed 19 hitouts to go with 13 disposals (10 kicks, three handballs) during Friday's 46-40 win over Port Adelaide.
ANALYSIS
Nankervis had his biggest match of the season in a crucial moment to help his club advance to the Grand Final. With a season high in tackles, Nankervis was able to make up the difference from his inconsistent numbers elsewhere on the pitch. After a performance like this, he could be one to watch in the final contest of the season.
Connor Rozee
Scores twice in elimination
MPort Adelaide Power
October 17, 2020
Rozee scored two goals to go with 14 disposals (nine kicks, five handballs) in addition to making four marks and logging five talkies during Friday's 46-40 loss to Richmond.
ANALYSIS
Rozee was seldom a consistent weapon as his stats reflected that of a scoring forward than a man in the midfield. However, he was still one of the more productive players for the Power as they were eliminated from the finals. He'll go into next season hoping to make more of an impact.
