The 2019-20 campaign marked Valanciunas' first full campaign with the Grizzlies, as he spent the second half of the 2018-19 campaign with the team. The 27-year-old saw action in 70 games, averaging 14.9 points, a career-high 11.3 rebounds, a career-high 1.9 assists and 1.1 blocks across 26.4 minutes. He also shot a career-high 58.5 percent from the field, hit a career-high 0.5 threes per game at 35.2 percent and converted 74.0 percent of his free throws. In terms of NBA ranks, the center was fifth in total rebounds (788), seventh in field-goal percentage, 18th in PER (22.2) and 20th in win shares (7.0). On Dec. 4, in a seven-point win over the Bulls, Valanciunas recorded a season-high 32 points in addition to 13 rebounds, three steals, one assist and one block in 29 minutes. On Feb. 28 against the Kings, Valanciunas set a new career high with 25 rebounds (six offensive) in addition to 13 points and two blocks in 32 minutes. On Aug. 13 in a win over the Bucks during seeding play in the Orlando bubble, Valanciunas dished a career-high 12 assists in addition to 26 points and 19 rebounds in 33 minutes. That was his lone triple-double of the campaign, though the big man did have 39 double-doubles. He had at least 15 rebounds in 11 of those double-doubles. In his seventh year, Valanciunas would continue to split center duties with Serge Ibaka. Even with less minutes, he produced excellent numbers over the first month by recording 13.9 PPG, 7.5 RPG, 1.1 BPG, 56.9 FG percentage, 80.0 FT percentage. The end of that run - on Nov. 21 - would feature the Lithuanian giant punishing the Hawks with 24 points and 13 rebounds. He dislocated his left thumb during a game on Dec. 12 and the subsequent surgery would keep him out for nearly two months. As a return was approaching, the career Raptor was moved to Memphis on Deadline Day with Marc Gasol going the other way. He dominated in his Grizzlies debut with 23 points and 10 boards. The stats didn't stop for Valanciunas, as the 20.9 PPG, 11.2 RPG, 2.1 APG, and 1.8 BPG across 16 games would prove. His Mar. 27 display proved to be notable as he dropped 34 to go along with 20 rebounds and a season-high five assists. And in 19 contests with Memphis, he'd go on to post 11 double-doubles. He ranked eighth in field-goal percentage (56.8) and sixth in total rebound percentage (21.4). Valanciunas' best performance of the season occurred Jan. 26 during a four-point loss to the Jazz. In 27 minutes, he posted 28 points, 14 rebounds (five offensive), four blocks, two assists and a steal. It was one of his 26 double-doubles. Valanciunas' best stretch of the season occurred during a six-game span from March 7-16. He averaged 18.0 points on 11.7 shots plus 12.3 rebounds (4.2 offensive), 2.0 assists and 1.7 steals over 26.4 minutes. Toronto finished the season 59-23, beating the Wizards in Round 1 before losing to the Cavaliers in Round 2. Valanciunas started all 80 games he appeared in during the 2016-17 campaign -- the third time in his five-year career that he reached that mark. He saw 25.8 minutes per game and averaged career marks in per-game rebounds (9.5) and free-throw percentage (81.1). Valanciunas ranked top 10 in the NBA in field-goal percentage (55.7) and total rebound percentage (20.8). He also set new single-game career highs in points (32) and rebounds (23). His 32-point effort in the 18-point win over the Pistons came on Opening Night, and it was arguably his best game of the campaign. He shot 10-of-15 from the field and 12-of-14 from the charity stripe while also collecting 11 rebounds (six offensive) and one assist. It was one of Valanciunas' 29 double-doubles. The Raptors finished the season 51-32, defeating the Bucks in Round 1 before falling to the Cavaliers in Round 2. Across 10 playoff appearances, Valanciunas averaged 11.2 points and 6.7 rebounds in 22.6 minutes. His best postseason performance came in a Game 2 loss to the Cavaliers. A fractured left hand cost Valanciunas 22 games during the 2015-16 season. He didn't play from Nov. 22 through Dec. 26, and he also missed five games after that, mostly in mid-March. However, he still managed a strong campaign, setting career highs in points (12.8) and rebounds (9.1) per game while averaging 26.0 minutes of run. He also ranked sixth in the league in field-goal percentage (56.5), eighth in total rebound percentage (20.1) and eighth in offensive rating (120.4). Valanciunas also collected a new single-game high with seven blocks April 1 against the Grizzlies. Arguably his best overall game of the season occurred Feb. 19 during a 10-point loss to the Bulls. Valanciunas played 33 minutes, recording 25 points, 12 rebounds, an assist and a block. It was one of his 22 double-doubles. His best extended stretch of the season occurred from Feb. 2-22. Across seven games, he averaged 15.7 points on 9.4 shots, 8.9 rebounds, 1.3 blocks and 1.0 assist in 26.1 minutes while not dipping below 10 points, 50 percent shooting, or six rebounds in any game. The Raptors finished the season 56-26, making it to the Eastern Conference Finals but losing to the Cavaliers after eliminating the Heat and Pacers. Valanciunas played only 12 of a possible 20 games due to a sprained ankle, averaging 13.8 points, 10.8 rebounds and 1.2 blocks in 26.8 minutes.2014

Toronto finished the season 49-33, making the playoffs but losing in the First Round to the Wizards. Valanciunas averaged 11.3 points and 9.3 rebounds in 26.5 minutes over the four-game series.2013
In 2013-14, Valanciunas' second year in the league and age-21 season, he started all 81 games he appeared in. That led to career highs in both average points (11.3) and rebounds (8.8). He also racked up new single-game career highs in points (26) and rebounds (21). Valanciunas' best performance of the season occurred April 9 during an 11-point victory over the 76ers. He played 37 minutes and recorded 26 points, 12 rebounds, two blocks and an assist to rack up one of his 25 double-doubles. That effort occurred during his best stretch of the season, which was the 11 games from March 26 to April 14. That span featured an average of 17.1 points on 10.4 shots, 11.2 rebounds and 1.0 assist over 33.5 minutes. Toronto finished with a 48-34 record but lost in Round 1 to the Nets. In the postseason, Valanciunas averaged 10.9 points, 9.7 rebounds and 1.0 block over 28.6 minutes in the seven-game series.2012
Valanciunas played professionally in Lithuania before being drafted fifth overall in the 2011 NBA Draft by the Raptors. However, he didn't make his NBA debut until 2012-13. He eventually took the court during the first game of the season, playing 23 minutes as a starter and posting 12 points, 10 rebounds and a block. Valanciunas proceeded to appear in 62 games (57 starts), averaging 8.9 points, 6.0 rebounds and 1.3 blocks, which led to his selection to the All-Rookie Second Team.
