Jamorko Pickett was born in December of 1997 in Washington D.C.. He is the son of LaQuetta Pickett. He started prep school in D.C. at Spingarn High School, but did not play basketball at Spingarn. For the next three years, he attended Eastern High School, where he played ball during his junior and senior seasons. Pickett then played a postgraduate season at Massanutten Military Academy, in Woodstock, Virginia, where he developed into a four-star recruit. After initially committing to Ole Miss, Pickett later decided to attend Georgetown University. From 2017 to 2021, Picket attended Georgetown and started 109 of 119 games. During his senior season, the forward averaged 12.2 points, 7.2 boards, 2.1 dimes and 1.6 made three-pointers per game. After going undrafted in the 2021 NBA Draft, Pickett joined the Pistons' 2021 Summer League team. In September of 2021, Pickett signed a two-way contract with Detroit.
