Sarr committed Wednesday to join Kentucky as a transfer from Wake Forest, Jeff Borzello of ESPN.com reports. He intends to apply for a waiver from the NCAA that would make him eligible to compete immediately at Kentucky.
ANALYSIS
The addition of Sarr this late in the offseason is huge for a Kentucky squad that lost five core contributors to the 2020 NBA Draft, including its top big men in Nick Richards and EJ Montgomery. Considering Sarr entered the portal May 1 -- less than a week after Wake Forest fired head coach Danny Manning -- Sarr should have a good argument to receive the waiver. Assuming Sarr is cleared by the NCAA, he should be the top candidate to slot in as the Wildcats' starting center after averaging 13.7 points, 9.0 boards and 1.2 blocks in 26.7 minutes per game for the Demon Deacons as a junior in 2019-20.
