Feeling healthy again
January 30, 2020
Covey (knee) is "on his way back to a full bill of health" heading into Utah's spring workouts, Christopher Kamrani of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
A rising redshirt senior, Covey was able to preserve an extra year of eligibility by appearing in only four games in 2019 before getting shut down with the knee injury. According to Josh Furlong of KSL.com, coach Kyle Whittingham suggested in December prior to Utah's Alamo Bowl loss to Texas that Covey wasn't among the players on the roster dealing with any sort of serious injury, so the slot specialist will head into the spring with his health intact. Expect Covey and tight end Brant Kuithe to serve as the top targets in the passing game for Utah in 2020, with South Carolina graduate transfer Jake Bentley likely to replace the departed Tyler Huntley as the Utes' starting signal-caller.
