Misses final two games
January 9, 2020
Hankins (concussion) did not play in the final two games of 2019.
After failing to crack the Miners' runningback rotation through the first ten weeks of the season, Hankins began to receive occasional carries starting in Week 11. The freshman suffered a concussion in that game against Charlotte but was able to carry the ball three times the following week, before sitting out the final two games of the campaign. It isn't clear if his absence to conclude the year was a result of re-emerging concussion symptoms or simply a coach's decision, but either way, he rushed the ball just nine times for 41 yards in 2019. Nonetheless, Hankins is certainly a candidate to take a major leap next fall and become a big part of UTEP's backfield.
