New Jersey Devils
2019 Fantasy Outlook
Hayden will get a fresh start with the Devils in 2019-20 after failing to secure a full-time gig with the Blackhawks during his three seasons in Chicago. The 24-year-old American brings a lot of physicality to the table, but that's basically the extent of his value. He'll likely split time between the AHL and NHL in 2019-20, and won't have any fantasy value as a result. Read Past Outlooks

ANALYSIS
Hayden has now dressed for three games with New Jersey, but he's still searching for his first point. Coming off a five-point season in 54 games with Chicago, Hayden's not expected to contribute much offensively.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2018
2017
Hayden split his 2017-18 campaign between the NHL and AHL, notching four goals and 13 points in 47 appearances with the Blackhawks and adding five goals and 17 points in 24 appearances in the minors. The 23-year-old Chicago native should be a full time NHLer this season, but he'll likely be tasked with a bottom-six checking role. The physical forward will likely rack up a ton of hits while throwing his 6-foot-3 frame around this campaign, but that won't be enough to make him worth owning in most fantasy formats.
Hayden was pretty impressive during his first taste of NHL action last season, tallying four points (one goal, three assists) while racking up 22 shots on goal and 44 hits in 12 games with the Blackhawks. Although he looked like he belonged with the big club in limited action, coach Joel Quenneville isn't just going to hand the Yale product a spot on Chicago’s Opening Night roster, but he'll presumably compete with the likes of Tanner Kero, Kyle Baun and Vince Hinostroza for a spot in the lineup on a nightly basis throughout the year. Hayden has a lot of potential as a big-bodied forward who likes to throw his weight around, but the questionable role leaves him as an undesirable option in most fantasy formats.
