Vladislav Kamenev
23-Year-Old CenterC
2019 Fantasy Outlook
Kamenev -- whom the Predators made a second-round, 42nd overall draft pick in 2014 -- produced only two goals and three assists between 23 games and 9:02 of average ice time for the Avalanche last season, but the Russian was given a chance on both the power play and penalty kill to suggest that he could be in line for a bigger role in 2019-20. Had it not been for a devastating shoulder injury that required surgery and ended Kamenev's campaign in early-December, conventional wisdom says the bottom-six pivot would've seen a whole lot more action at the top level. The shoulder injury depresses his fantasy prospects, but the 23-year-old will be worth keeping an eye on if he shows up to training camp healthy and eager to compete. Read Past Outlooks

November 9, 2019
Kamenev registered a power-play assist and two hits in Saturday's 4-2 win over the Blue Jackets.
ANALYSIS
Kamenev set up Samuel Girard's goal in the first period. The Russian forward now has assists in three consecutive games for his only three points of the year. Kamenev has a very limited role with the Avalanche, so this recent point streak isn't likely to last much longer.

The 2014 second-round pick proved he was a first-round talent early in his AHL career, racking 51 points -- 21 goals and 30 assists -- over 70 games in his second professional season. Still just 21 years old, Kamanev could fit the bill of an under-the-radar guy to make a significant impact after a lost 2018-19 campaign due to a broken hand.Given the Avalanche's depth at center, it may be difficult for the Russian to secure an Opening Night roster spot, but Kamanev possesses the skill to contribute.
Kamenev saw a very brief, two-game stint with the Preds last year during the regular season, and was also one of several callups during the playoffs but wound up seeing no game action. The good news is, the 21-year-old Russian scored 50 points in 71 games at AHL Milwaukee last season, which translates into a ton of upside potential at the NHL level. For now, however, he is expected to open the upcoming season back in the minors with the Admirals.
