Signs two-year extension
DColorado Avalanche  Minors
March 27, 2020
MacDonald agreed to terms on a two-year, two-way contract extension with Colorado on Friday.
ANALYSIS
MacDonald has spent the past five years playing in the minors following a four-year career at Cornell University. The blueliner did make his NHL debut with the Panthers back in 2018-19, scoring his only NHL goal during a two-game stint. With AHL Colorado this year, the 27-year-old racked up 16 goals and 26 helpers. The Portland native will almost certainly spend most, if not all of the 2020-21 campaign in the minors.

Yahoo DFS Hockey: Saturday Picks
October 13, 2018
Sasha Yodashkin looks at Saturday's Yahoo slate, recommending the Maple Leafs' Mitch Marner on the road against the Capitals.
2018 Fantasy Outlook
MacDonald was on an AHL-only deal last season, but is now in the position to start for the Panthers on opening night. Last season with the Binghamton Devils the 25-year-old defender put up 20 goals and 55 points in 75 games, leading the AHL in points. He was also named on the first All-Star team at the end of the season. During preseason MacDonald was constantly praised by head coach Bob Boughner as one of the best defensemen on the ice, so expect the rookie to see significant ice time on the bottom pairing while battling with MacKenzie Weegar, Alex Petrovic, and fellow preseason breakout Bogdan Kiselevich for a permanent spot on the starting lineup.
